Deputy Anthony Perkins, along his partner, Deputy Hoss, and other cops, told Deputy Judy Hicks and Sheriff Dewey Riley about High School Student Jenny Randall's phone ringing and found it inside Sidney Prescott's car covered in blood.
Later, Perkins is seen at the press conference with Hoss and Dewey. Unfortunately, this is where Sidney’spublicist and personal assistant, Rebecca Walters, was thrown on top of a news van after she was stabbed to death. Later Perkins is in the cop car when Hoss, coming back from maining his rounds, sees Perkins over the steering wheel, appearing dead. However, it is Perkins pranking him. As they laugh over the prank, Ghostface suddenly appears and stabs Hoss in the back, killing him. Ghostface then stabs Perkins in the forehead, and watches as Perkins is able to exit the police car, stumble about and then drop dead.
Judy Hicks later reported that they found the bodies of Hoss and Perkins with multiple stab wounds in a police car two blocks away.

His casting call states: "Old school cop. Cocky, bigoted, and snarky. NAME CAMEOS PREFERRED."
It is possible that Perkins is supposed to be the new version of Sheriff Burke.
In a scene of the film, he is about to leave his patrol car, saying "I'll be right back" before stopping and saying, "I know this one, you're not supposed to say that, are you?", an obvious reference to rule #. 3 ("Never, ever, EVER, under any circumstances say 'I'll be right back', 'cause you won't be back!") from the first Scream movie.
Wes Craven stated he based Anthony Perkins’ death scene off a report he read about a man who was stabbed in the forehead, but was able to amicably walk into a hospital.
After getting stabbed, getting out of the back and before falling to the ground, Perkins' last words were, “F**k Bruce Willis”. Bruce Willis is a famous actor, singer and producer whom Perkins and Hoss were discussing earlier, the latter saying that it was always bad to be a cop in a film unless it's Bruce Willis.
